Shining Bright: Matu Gobah Earns Employee of the Month for the Special Needs Day Program

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Special Needs Day Program, Matu has been honored as this month’s Employee of the Month, and her story is one of quiet strength, unwavering positivity, and meaningful connection.

Known throughout her program for her calm presence and joyful energy, Matu brings light and love into every interaction. Whether she's helping someone work through a tough moment or celebrating a small victory, her care and commitment radiate. “She gives 100% every day,” said Brooke Baker, Arc Mercer’s 2024 Employee of the Year, who nominated Matu for the recognition. “And the work she does never goes unnoticed.”

Brooke praised Matu not only for her daily consistency but also for her ability to build genuine, trusting relationships with the individuals in her care. It’s this blend of compassion, resilience, and professionalism that makes Matu such an invaluable member of the Arc family.

As this month’s winner, Matu received a $250 gift card and now joins an elite group of honorees—one of only 12 employees eligible for the ultimate recognition: Arc Mercer’s Employee of the Year. That prestigious title comes with a $1,000 prize and special recognition at our annual Fall Gala, where the winner is celebrated in front of peers, leadership, and the greater Arc community.
