Rising Star of the Month Andrew Macpherson | Senior Day Program

The Arc Mercer proudly celebrates Andrew Macpherson as the March 2025 Rising Star of the Month. A valued member of the Senior Day Program, Andrew was nominated by Hannah Lugat from the Arc Mercer Healthcare Center for his extraordinary perseverance and positive outlook during a time of major life transition.

Andrew recently moved to a new residence—a change that can be overwhelming for anyone. While the adjustment initially brought on feelings of uncertainty, Andrew met the challenge head-on. He chose to view the transition as an opportunity for personal growth and increased independence.

“He has been an example of what it means to persevere well through times of change,” said Hannah. “Despite being anxious, he saw it as an opportunity to experience something that would help him in the long run. He has a positive attitude and greets people with a smile.”

Andrew’s warmth and resilience have made a lasting impression on both staff and peers. His ability to adapt, stay optimistic, and continue encouraging those around him speaks volumes about his character. As part of his recognition, Andrew received a $100 gift card and a certificate of achievement, honoring his hard work and inspiring spirit.

In addition to his monthly recognition, Andrew is now one of 12 individuals eligible to receive the prestigious Rising Star of the Year Award at the Arc Mercer’s Annual Gala this fall. This award honors a consumer whose personal journey and progress have truly stood out throughout the year.
