Marqui Pittson Named Rising Star of the Month
The Arc Mercer is proud to recognize Marqui Pittson as our latest Rising Star of the Month, an award celebrating individuals who demonstrate meaningful growth, determination, independence, and personal achievement.
Marqui was nominated by DSP and TAC Ambassador Jason Davis, who has watched his confidence and independence grow significantly.
“Marqui is the embodiment of ‘You can do it,’” Jason shared. “He has transitioned from someone who had a hard time being around others to a young man who is now slated to work two jobs, has earned his permit, and is working toward getting his driver’s license.”
Those accomplishments represent much more than milestones on a checklist. They reflect the effort Marqui has put into building greater independence and challenging himself to reach goals that once may have seemed out of reach.
With continued support from his family, Marqui is preparing to take the next step toward earning his driver’s license in the coming months. At the same time, the opportunity to work two jobs represents another major step forward.
“Marqui’s drive, diligence, and pride have transformed him into a true representation of change,” Jason said.
The Rising Star of the Month Award is something individuals throughout The Arc Mercer can strive toward, and any Arc Mercer employee can submit a nomination when they see someone demonstrating growth, achievement, perseverance, or increased independence.
Each monthly Rising Star receives a signed and framed certificate from the Office of the Executive Director, a congratulations balloon, and a $100 gift card.
Marqui will also become one of 12 monthly Rising Stars eligible for Rising Star of the Year, which will be announced at The Arc Mercer’s annual Fall Gala.
Congratulations, Marqui, on everything you have accomplished and everything still ahead.

It’s really inspiring to see how much Marqui has grown and how his hard work is opening up new opportunities for him. On a lighter note, when I have some free time, I like playing Stickman Hook for a bit, since it’s simple, fun, and an easy way to relax.
