A Positive Force at Campus Day Program The August Employee of the Month award was presented to David John, a DSP at the Campus Day Program and proud member of the Sierra Leone Cultural Group. Known for his calm demeanor, positivity, and genuine care for the individuals he supports, David has become a shining example of Arc Mercer’s mission in action.
Nominated by Anne-Marie Dye, David was praised for being someone the consumers naturally gravitate toward. Whether it’s going for a walk, sharing a conversation, or simply being present, David is a steady and supportive figure. His patience and kindness allow those around him to feel valued and respected.
Anne-Marie noted that David’s gift lies not only in how he interacts with consumers, but also in how he supports his colleagues:
“David is always the one consumers want to walk with, talk to, and lean on.”
This sentiment was echoed by Kirk Ponton, who celebrated his 20th work anniversary that same afternoon. He took a moment to highlight David’s contributions:
“David is always on. He is absolutely one of the most positive people I have ever met in my entire life… David brings the spirits out of everybody in the program, and he’s just a wonderful, wonderful guy.”
Overjoyed and humbled by the recognition, David expressed his gratitude in a heartfelt and simple way:
“I want to say thank you so much, and I will keep on pushing.”
David’s impact goes beyond his daily responsibilities. His energy inspires both staff and consumers, uplifting the entire program. This recognition is not just about his work ethic, but about the joy, stability, and encouragement he brings into the lives of others.
Congratulations to David John on being named Employee of the Month—you represent the very best of Arc Mercer!
