The Arc Mercer is proud to present this quarter’s Dawn Carmosino Team Impact Award to Dority Bernard, BDSP at Avalon, for her exceptional leadership, powerful advocacy, and unwavering commitment to her colleagues and the agency’s mission.

Nominated by Tarweh Witherspoon, DSP at Greenwood, Dority was celebrated for her grassroots efforts to ensure equitable access to high-quality benefits for her fellow mission-critical staff. Acting independently and outside of her regular work hours, Dority personally reached out to peers, built solidarity, and inspired collective action—all in pursuit of enrollment in the top-tier 401(k) plan now available to all eligible mission-critical employees.

“Dority displayed exceptional initiative and dedication by taking the time to personally speak with her mission-critical staff peers, outside of work hours, to encourage their support for her efforts to petition all staff into the GREATEST 401(k) plan available in our industry,” wrote Tarweh in his nomination. “We are pleased by Dority's bravery. This accomplishment is a testament to her extraordinary ability to positively impact her peers and create a collaborative effort that benefits all mission-critical staff.”

Dority’s passion, persistence, and clear sense of purpose set a new bar for what it means to make an impact. Her work is a shining example of what the Dawn Carmosino Team Impact Award represents: going the extra mile to elevate others, foster equity, and lead with integrity.

As part of her recognition, Dority received a customized Arc Mercer trophy and a $250 gift card. She will also be one of four quarterly winners eligible for the Team Impact of the Year Award, to be announced at the Arc Mercer Annual Gala this fall.

Congratulations, Dority, and thank you for your extraordinary commitment to advancing the well-being of your peers and strengthening the Arc Mercer community from the inside out.
