Celebrating Benjamin Barclay: An Employee Referral Program Success Story




In the Arc Mercer community, there are individuals who shine brightly, embodying the spirit of dedication and compassion that defines our organization. Among them stands Benjamin Barclay, a Direct Support Professional (DSP) whose journey with us since 2019 has been marked by profound contributions and unwavering commitment to our mission.


Benjamin's connection to the work we do runs deep, fueled by personal experiences and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). With two disabled relatives and prior experience in the field in Liberia, Benjamin brings a wealth of empathy, understanding, and expertise to his role at Arc Mercer.


However, Benjamin's impact transcends his daily responsibilities as a DSP. His commitment to our community extends to his efforts in recruiting and referring talented individuals to join our team. Through his advocacy and enthusiasm, Benjamin has referred over seven individuals to Arc Mercer since he joined—an act of generosity that has not gone unnoticed.


It's worth noting that Benjamin's referrals have not only enriched our team but have also brought significant benefits to our organization. Through the referral program, Benjamin has earned at least $1750 worth of gift cards—a testament to his dedication and the value he sees in expanding our team with individuals who share our commitment to excellence.


But for Benjamin, it's not about the monetary rewards. His motivation stems from a genuine desire to bring more help to Arc Mercer and to further our mission in providing outstanding support to those we serve. One particular referral stands out—a friend from his second job, whose decision to join Arc Mercer full-time not only enriched our team but also allowed Benjamin to resign from his other job, highlighting the profound impact of his advocacy efforts.


In celebration of Benjamin's remarkable contributions, we want to take this opportunity to remind our entire community about the importance of our Employee Referral Program. At Arc Mercer, fostering connections and nurturing talent are fundamental to our growth and success. Here's how the program works:


When you refer someone to join our team, and they're hired, you'll receive a bonus as a token of our appreciation. 


If your referral has experience in our field, you'll earn $400. If they're new, you'll receive $250.

Make sure your referral mentions your name in the "referred by" section of their application to ensure you receive your bonus if they're hired.

Currently, the bonus applies to direct care and janitorial positions.
