The Arc Mercer is proud to announce a new community initiative led by our food service program at the OTC. Consumers, with support from staff and fellow participants, are preparing fresh, homemade soup to donate to the Volunteers of America’s Amani House.

The project begins in the Arc Mercer Café at our headquarters, where the team carefully prepares, cooks, and packages each batch of soup. Thanks to the dedication of Employment Specialist Tametrius Gerald and the hard work of Aaron Suber, Thomas Sharperson, and Nickolas Zoltanski, the first donations have already reached Amani House—and this is just the beginning.

The goal is to continue making these donations twice a month, ensuring that residents of Amani House receive nourishing meals while also giving our consumers meaningful opportunities to build culinary and vocational skills.

This initiative embodies the Arc Mercer’s mission: empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to contribute to their community while gaining independence and pride in their work.
