Rising Star of the Month: Melanie Becker

The Arc Mercer is proud to recognize Melanie Becker as this month’s Rising Star, celebrating her determination, perseverance, and commitment to building a successful future through the OTC program.

Melanie has shown outstanding dedication to her training program, consistently putting in the effort to learn new skills and prepare herself for employment opportunities. With a strong interest in food service, she continues to work hard toward her goal of securing a position in the field and gaining greater independence through employment.

One of Melanie’s biggest recent accomplishments was stepping outside of her comfort zone to participate in a job interview. Although she was not selected for the position, staff recognized the interview itself as a major achievement and an important step forward in her journey. Facing challenges with courage and determination, Melanie demonstrated resilience and a willingness to keep pushing herself toward her goals.

Staff have praised Melanie for her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to personal growth. Her willingness to embrace new experiences and continue moving forward, even when things do not go exactly as planned, reflects the kind of perseverance that inspires those around her.

Nominated by Rosemary Reed, Employment Specialist at OTC, Melanie is recognized as someone who continues to grow through hard work, persistence, and a genuine desire to succeed.

As one of twelve Rising Stars of the Month, Melanie is now eligible to be named Rising Star of the Year, an exciting recognition that highlights her continued progress and potential.

As part of this recognition, Melanie will receive a signed and framed certificate from the Executive Director’s office, a congratulatory balloon, and a $100 gift card.
