The IT team has recently completed a series of major technology improvements designed to make daily work more reliable, more secure, and easier to use across offices and group homes. These upgrades focus on reducing disruptions, improving device performance, and creating a more comfortable work environment for staff.
Stronger, More Reliable Network
A significant modernization of the agency’s network has removed 56 potential “points of failure.” In simple terms, this means there are now far fewer weak spots where internet or system interruptions could happen.
As part of this upgrade, new security firewalls were also installed. These tools allow the IT team to quickly see what is happening across the network and identify most issues remotely. This means problems can often be diagnosed and addressed faster, reducing downtime and helping staff stay connected when it matters most.
New and Improved Workstations
Workstations across group homes and offices have been upgraded with a focus on comfort and flexibility.
New monitors now include built-in eye care features designed to reduce strain during long periods of use. This helps create a safer and more comfortable viewing experience for staff throughout the day.
Each workstation also now includes a docking station. This small device allows staff to connect a Chromebook, laptop, or even a phone and instantly turn it into a full desktop setup. With this change, devices can be used more flexibly across locations without needing multiple cables or complicated setup. In many cases, staff can simply connect and begin working right away, no extra power cords required.
Faster, More Secure Devices for Everyday Use
The agency has also added 25 new enterprise-grade Chromebooks to its technology fleet. These devices are built for speed, security, and long battery life, making them ideal for day-to-day work needs.
These upgraded Chromebooks are the same type of devices used in large corporate environments, including by Google employees. They are designed to handle heavy use while staying secure and reliable throughout the day.
Supporting a More Efficient Future
Together, these improvements represent a major step forward in strengthening the agency’s technology foundation. With fewer interruptions, faster troubleshooting, more flexible workstations, and stronger devices, staff across all programs are better supported to focus on their important daily work.
The IT team continues to look for new ways to improve systems and ensure technology keeps pace with the growing needs of the organization.
