Hilda Aguilar‑Perez, Direct Support Professional at Klockner Residence, was selected as the May Employee of the Month. Nominated by Kelly Gonzales of the Healthcare Center, Aguilar‑Perez is widely respected for her warmth, patience, and steady presence. Her ability to bring joy and calm to those around her—residents and staff alike—has earned repeated praise across departments.

She has been commended for her ability to remain composed in difficult situations, greet others with positivity, and offer help without the expectation of recognition. Her approach to service reflects the highest standards of professionalism and empathy.

Joann Bing, a Direct Support Professional at the Alice Group Home, received the June Employee of the Month award. Nominated by Paul Lagana, Assistant Executive Director of Residential/Recruitment, Bing was described as “a dedicated advocate, a thoughtful listener, and—though quiet in demeanor—a true go-getter.”

Her work is grounded in consistency, reliability, and compassion.

Colleagues frequently note her calm leadership and the positive influence she has on both peers and the individuals she supports. Her contributions reinforce a culture of trust, stability, and person-centered care within residential services.

Recognition with Purpose

Each Employee of the Month honoree receives a formal certificate of recognition, a $250 gift card, and a commemorative lapel pin. In addition, they become finalists for the Employee of the Year Award, a signature honor presented annually at The Arc Mercer Gala. This distinction includes a $1,000 prize and a trophy celebrating long-term excellence in service.

Building a Culture of Care and Professionalism

These recognitions reflect more than individual achievement—they speak to a workforce culture where professionalism, compassion, and mission-driven service are continuously upheld. Employees like Aguilar‑Perez and Bing model what effective, sustainable care looks like in practice: a calm, capable presence that improves outcomes, supports peers, and enriches the lives of those served.

For community partners, funders, and board members, these stories offer a glimpse into the level of talent and dedication that powers the agency’s impact. The Arc Mercer’s ability to recruit, support, and retain such exemplary staff remains a critical component of its operational strength and long-term sustainability.
