The future of our Senior Day Program reached new heights this week, literally.
On Wednesday, February 18, representatives from The Arc Mercer gathered at 999 Lower Ferry Road to participate in the official Topping-Out Ceremony for the new Ewing Senior & Community Center.
Leaving a Mark on History
This wasn't just a construction milestone, it was a deeply personal moment for the Arc Mercer. As the new structure reached its full height, members of The Arc Mercer’s Senior Day Program were honored with front-row seats for the festivities.
In a moving tribute to the partnership between The Arc Mercer and Ewing Township, our seniors were invited to sign the ceremonial beam. Their names are now permanently etched into the steel, ensuring that the legacy of our consumers will forever be a part of the building’s physical foundation.

Room to Grow
The significance of this new space cannot be overstated. Following the devastating 2022 fire that claimed the original building, this "promise of renewal" offers a bright future for our services.
The new center will house a dedicated space for The Arc Mercer’s Senior Day Program. This modern facility will allow the Senior Day Program to expand its capacity, bringing the agency’s specialized services to even more seniors with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in the community.
Being centrally located in Ewing’s primary community hub allows the agency’s seniors to remain active and visible members of the local neighborhood.

Arction News On the Scene
The Arction News team from the Campus Day Program was on-site, cameras in hand, to provide full coverage of the event. Their dedication to capturing the remarks of local leaders, including Mayor Bert H. Steinmann and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, ensured that the entire agency could share in the excitement.
As we look toward the grand opening, we celebrate the resilience of Ewing Township and the growing footprint of The Arc Mercer. This building represents more than just walls and a roof, it represents a more inclusive future for everyone we serve.
