The Arc Mercer’s latest Team Atmosphere Committee (TAC) Awards celebration recognized Hamilton Township Police Officers Anthony Valdora and Brandon Walker for assisting an Arc Mercer employee who became stranded for several hours during the January 25, 2026 snowstorm while attempting to report to work at the Phaeton Group Home in Hamilton, New Jersey.
The officers stayed with the employee until a tow truck arrived, ensuring her safety throughout the incident and providing support during hazardous conditions.
Shift manager Alicia Davis, was traveling to her overnight shift when her vehicle became stuck in the snow for approximately five to six hours. Officers Valdora and Walker remained on scene with her until help arrived, helping to ensure she was not alone during a stressful and potentially unsafe situation.
Executive Director Steve Cook recognized both the dedication of Arc Mercer staff and the importance of community support during emergencies. He reflected on Davis’s experience, stating, “Alicia was in an absolutely dangerous situation because of the commitment to be there in our group home because you from your heart said, ‘I have to be there.’”
Cook added, “Their commitment to her safety, remaining with her until a tow truck arrived and ensuring she ultimately reached her workplace safely, reflects the highest standards of public service and compassion.”
The TAC Awards also included a “Snow Angels” presentation honoring staff and community members who went above and beyond during the storm to ensure safety and continuity of care across the agency.
Alicia Davis thanked the officers for their support, saying, “I appreciate you not only just risking your time or taking your time out to stay with me, but for everything that you do on a consistent basis.”
Hamilton Township Police Chief Ken DeBoskey and Mayor Jeff Martin also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of everyday acts of service. DeBoskey stated, “We’re community servants at heart and, you know, this is a great example of serving the community,” adding, “Ultimately, what these two officers did personifies what we are and what we do.”
Mayor Martin noted, “What makes America so great is each and every day there are people going above and beyond what they're normally asked to do to help out a neighbor, to help out their community,” adding that the officers “didn’t do it to get recognition, but saw somebody in need.”
The Arc Mercer extends its gratitude to Officers Valdora and Walker for their assistance and professionalism during the storm, as well as to all staff recognized as “Snow Angels” for their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of those served by the agency.
