Recreation
At The Arc Mercer, we know our consumers well and this helps us design just the right recreational and leisure activities.
We offer arts & crafts, exercise programs, and many other fun activities. We also run competitive and non-competitive sports programs (from soccer to bowling to power lifting). We host events throughout the year such as culinary classes, leisure activities, bowling trips, dances and much more!!
We serve over 125 individuals in our Recreational Programs!
Who is Eligible?
Any individual eligible for services through the Division of Developmental Disabilities and residing in the Mercer County area may participate in recreational programming.
Hours of Operation
Recreational activities are offered on evenings and weekends. Evening programs usually run from 6:30 - 8 pm and weekend programs are typically held during the day. Consumers are always kept informed of upcoming activities so they can plan to attend.
Arc Mercer Facilities
Our facilities house a full-sized gymnasium/auditorium complete with basketball nets, a stereo system, a movie projection system, and air hockey tables. We also have a cafeteria and consumer lounge on-site.
Safety First
We staff each event with ARC personnel and approved volunteers who monitor and assist consumers because their safety and well-being matter to us!
Why Participate in Our Programs?
Our recreational programs promote active, healthy lifestyles and enhance each participant’s overall physical and mental well-being. Moreover, by participating, consumers will improve their quality of life through socialization. Our programs allow consumers to interact with their peers while building self-confidence at the same time.
Consumers can choose what activities they want to engage in and are involved in planning future events based on what they enjoy.
