Our Programs
For nearly fifty years, The
Arc/Mercer has been part of a nationwide movement in
the field of mental retardation to enable all
individuals to achieve their highest level of
independence and the greatest degree of choice. To
that end, we continually adjust our programs to meet
the needs, goals, and choices of the individuals
served. We know we are succeeding when each person
communicates satisfaction with his or her
accomplishments and life experiences. Our programs
are constantly monitored and staff is carefully
selected for their sensitivity and professionalism.
We are continuing in the tradition of "The Arc
Movement" for the inclusion of people with mental
retardation and developmental disabilities as fully
enfranchised citizens in their communities. The
Arc/Mercer teaches children and adults the skills
they need to fit into the mainstream of American
Life. Families are offered support, education and
respite. Opportunities for competitive jobs,
independent living, and leisure activities are
continually being developed. |
