Our Hiring Process

Our Human Resources Department will review all applications and resumes. All those received before the application closing date will be screened for qualifications, experience, education and any other pertinent information. If your qualifications meet the criteria of the position for which you are applying, we will contact you to arrange an interview. Your application will stay on file for six (6) months.

What are the basic requirements of each position?
You will need to undergo three things:

  • Background check
  • Drug screen
  • Physical

What documents will I need?
You will need:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Education diploma
  • Additional I9 documents (social security card, passport, permanent residence card or birth certificate)

What shifts are available?
The Arc Mercer is a 24/7 agency!

  • We have an overnight shift from 11pm-9am
  • Day program hours are 7:30am-3:30pm or 8am-4pm
  • Weekends from 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm

How many holidays does The Arc Mercer have?
We have 12 paid holidays throughout the year!

Will The Arc Mercer let me take an emergency leave?
The Arc Mercer has always been accommodating to our staff's requests. Our benefits department reviews each request on an individual basis. Emergency leaves will be approved according to The Arc Mercer's leave policy.

Training & Career Development

Training is an important and necessary aspect of any career. At the Arc Mercer we believe that training is essential to every employee’s ongoing growth and development. Orientation and training are provided in the following areas:

  • Agency Orientation
  • Shifting Expectations/Preventing Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation
  • Medication Administration
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Crisis Management Training (CMT)
  • Blood borne Pathogens
  • Lifting & Transfer
  • Wheelchair Transfer

  • Driver & Over-the-Road Training

FAQs

Does The Arc Mercer promote from within?
Yes! We encourage you to submit an application from our internal job openings.

How long does training take?
Training can take anywhere between 2-3 weeks to complete. We offer day and evening training classes. Please ask your recruiter for more information on the training schedule.

Do I get paid for training?
Yes! You will receive a training pay rate.
Once you are fully cleared according to the agency's policy, you will receive a retro payment which is the difference between your regular rate of pay and your training pay rate.
