Adult Resource Program

Our Adult Resources Day Program provides individuals with disabilities exposure to a variety of social, recreational, and vocational opportunities within their community. We are focused on providing not only program based skill building, but community integration opportunities. This community exposure reinforces the skills learned within the program setting.

The Adult Resource Day Program has the flexibility to meet the needs of those we support by offering three sub programs:

  • Adult Resource Program - A program tailored to those with the greatest support needs. This program focuses on life skills and vocational skill building at the most beginning stages. Individuals have the opportunity to participate in community based leisure activities
  • Community Resource Program - A program focused on promoting community based skill instruction. Individuals practice vocational skills learned within the center by participating in volunteer opportunities, such as Meals on Wheels. Life skills, such as money handling and appropriate dress, are reinforced by outings to local businesses.
  • Skills Training Program - The Skills Training Program provides individuals with the opportunity to build skill in their area of vocational interest with hands on training. Current participants of this program receive janitorial training by visiting the Arc Mercer Step Ahead School daily and completing assigned tasks. Other individuals visit the Touch of Taste kitchen on a daily basis to receive training in food prep and service. Participants also have the opportunity to receive training in Thrift Store Operations by processing incoming donations for the Arc Mercer Flea Markets and participation in monthly sales.

Eligibility:

All program participants must be referred by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) either as part of our contract or using the Real Life Choices program. Please contact the Arc Mercer, and your DDD Case Manager, for more information about our day program.

We serve nearly 100 individuals in the Adult Resource Program and provide transportation for those in need.
